Jesus Came With Healing In His Hands

When Jesus came into the world one of his missions was to bring healing.

Healing both physically and spiritually from sins, from sickness, from harm and from heartache.

Over my lifetime I have experienced every one of those healing provisions from him.

During this Easter Season I am grateful & jubilant as I remember not only what he recently provided for me through the diagnosis of breast cancer but all the numerous times he has healed my wounds and worries in the past. With each journey I have come to realize just how extravagant the dimensions of God's Love really is for me. The Word of God says in Ephesians that as we are rooted in Him that we have access to this extravagant love. A love that is so wide, so long, so high and so very deep that it surpasses our human knowledge and understanding! I can honestly say it blows my mind!!

That kind of love has the power to provide peace in the midst of a diagnosis!

That kind of love has the power to provide healing for what ever you need to be healed.

That kind of love comes from the One and Only Yahweh Rophe - The Lord Who Heals!

Rophe - means heal, cure, restore or make whole.

Do you need His Healing touch today?

For I am the Lord who heals. Exodus 15:26

Christ suffered and died so that disease and misery would be temporary.

He came to die to heal us from moral and physical ailments.

He did it for me...He did it for you,,,He did it for love.

Upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

He healed all who were sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet Isaiah: "He took our illnesses and bore our diseases." Matthew 8:16-17

Remembering The Stations Of The Cross

Year after year people journey to Jerusalem to retrace the path that Jesus took,

carrying his cross, on the way to his crucifixion.

This path is known as the Via Dolorosa - The Way of Grief or Suffering.

As a child I remember staring at the church walls and being fascinated by the pictures that portrayed the stations of the cross. They were beautifully moving to me although I did not totally appreciate and understand at that time exactly what my Lord did for me. It was not until I was older that the significance and power of that journey transformed my heart and hope.

Today I wanted to share with you those stations and encourage you this Good Friday to reflect and remember the steps that Christ took for all of us.

These steps unite all believers - past, present and future.

If you have heard of the name of Jesus Christ but do not have a relationship with Him - It is my prayer that you would surrender to Him today. I encourage you to read the Stations of the Cross, watch the video and pray for forgiveness and receive Him as Lord of your life!

"If you cannot contemplate high and heavenly things, take refuge in the Passion of Christ, and love to dwell in His Sacred Wounds. For if you devoutly seek the Wounds of Jesus and the precious marks of His Passion, you will find great strength in all troubles."

STATIONS OF THE CROSS

1. Jesus Is Condemned To Death

A just and sinless man judged, betrayed and sentenced.
For everyone who will suffer, bleed or be unfairly punished...He suffered for you and for me.
He makes the ultimate sacrifice.

2. Jesus Receives His Cross

He carries the weight of the cross on his shoulders and upon that cross is heaped the weight of all our sins. This is what he came to do...take away the sins of the world.

3. Jesus Falls For Under The Weight Of The Cross The First Time

The weight of the cross is too much. He falls to the ground and experiences what it is like to feel defeated, and weak...yet he knows he must go on.

4. Jesus Meets His Mother

Since birth she has been with him through for every step of his life and now she is there to comfort him on his most difficult day.

5. Simon Of Cyrene Helps Jesus To Carry The Cross

He allows Simon to help him. Today that is a reminder that he relies on us to bear the cross for his names sake.

6. Veronica Wipes The Face Of Jesus

A compassionate friend, wipes the spit, blood and sweat from his face.

7. Jesus Falls A Second Time

The weight is too much and Jesus falls for the second time.
The soldiers force him to continue.

8. Jesus Meets The Women of Jerusalem

The women show gratitude to Jesus for his generous love towards them.

9. Jesus Falls A Third Time

Broken and devastated, Jesus falls again.
He is so weak the soldiers have to help him and push him up the hill.

10. Jesus Is Stripped Of His Garments

In his life he gave up all earthly possessions to preach the gospel of Good News.
As if the crucifixion was not enough he is violently stripped of his clothes and whips tear at his back.

11. Jesus Is Nailed To The Cross

Huge, sharp spike were hammered through his wrists and feet. As he struggles for each breathe the soldiers below him gamble for his clothes.

12. Jesus Dies Upon The Cross

Every breath is a struggle but somehow he whispers - "Father, into your hands I command my spirit." A soldier penetrates a spear in him to test that he dead. The Savior is indeed dead. The price is paid, and we are redeemed.

13. Jesus Is Laid In The Arms Of His Mother

Since he was a baby his mother has held him and cared for his wounds. This day she holds his naked, blood crusted - dead body...she weeps in her helplessness and sorrow.

14. Jesus Is Laid In The Tomb

His body was laid in a stone cold tomb - sealed with a massive rock and guarded by Roman soldiers.

15. RESURRECTION Of Jesus!

Easter Sunday Morning - The tomb is empty!

The word goes forth that He is Risen!

Jesus is victorious over death!!

Next to Jesus on the Cross there were two criminals...one who joined in the mocking and cursed Jesus...the other acknowledged
he was indeed the Son of God and Savior of the world. (Luke 23:39-43)

During our Easter Services this weekend my Pastor is asking this question...

Which one are you?

I pray you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and loves you so very much that he died on that cross to pay for your sins and that He alone has the power to transform
you and your future!

Admit You Are a Sinner

In the Bible - Romans 3:23 tells us, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” In other words, sin has infiltrated the human race, and not one of us has escaped its effects.

Repent of Your Sins
To repent means to “change” or to “turn.” It’s like driving down the highway, pulling a U-turn and heading the other direction. More than simply being sorry, it is a word of action. Many people feel remorse for their sin but never truly repent. Remorse is being sorry; repentance is being sorry enough to stop.

Generous in love - God,give grace!

Huge in mercy - wipe out my bad record.

Scrub away my guilt, soak out my sins in your laundry.

I know how bad I've been; my sins are staring me down.

Psalm 51:1-3

Invite Him to be your Savior

Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe & trust that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

This is the way God wants you who belong to Christ Jesus to live.

During the next few chapters we will absorb scriptures and knowledge that will help empower us to become women of determination and not defeat!

When life's circumstances press in.

When life's journeys bring sickness, sorrow or pain.

When we are in a battle.

May we be reminded that our focus should be on God and not the object of our struggle.

I know that it is not an easy task to accomplish but if we apply the instructions that Paul encourages us with in 1 Thessalonians 5 then I believe we will be strengthened and become better fit spiritually, emotionally and physically to take care of ourselves and serve God & others.

Be determined to not identify yourself by your circumstances but by who you belong to and
what His word says about you.

And accountability helps!

As we watched the video and discussed this weeks message I was deeply moved by the emotions & discussions that were taking place.

Eyes teared up when Lysa challenged us to remember who we were and declared over us that

we were not failures!

We are Jesus Girls capable of victory!

As those words sinked in there were thoughts that flooded our minds.

The battle was on and the determination fire was kicked in!

Here is what we are up against.

Thoughts that tell us lies.

Just as quickly as one of our ladies heard Lysa speak these things over us...she heard opposite in her head - but - quickly conquered those thoughts with the truth!

Emotions & Hurts that lead us to find comfort in food.

One of our ladies has struggled with weight issues most of her life.

Since childhood she has dieted and even suffered from an eating disorder for a period of time.

Her 9 year old daughter has a broken heart from her parents divorce and has told her counselor that food and snacks help her.

This sweet friend and mom is aching for her daughter and the battle they share.

She is determined to reverse this by the power & knowledge of God's Word!

Determination That Needs Strengthening

" Everything in me does not want to plan!"

We must be women who are determined to make changes in how we plan for shopping and preparation of meals.

Deciding in advance to stock our fridge with healthier eating options and not with packaged food that are filled with additives and unhealthy things!

You can cut down on shopping time and save money if you plan!

Dr Ski Chilton, a leading researcher in the study of gene-based nutrition, inflammation, and Omega 3's and author of The Gene Smart Diet

shared on the Made To Crave webcast recently - that we need to consume & get more Omega 3 into our bodies.

Omega 3 is good .

Omega 6 is not as good.

Omega 3 helps with aging.

Omega 6 promotes inflammation.

He recommends we eat Salmon, Makrel, and Cod to get a good source of Omega 3 and that we should limit our eating of Tilapia due to the higher levels of Omega 6.

Passion Sunday A Triumphal Entry To A Victorious Week!

This Parade Is For Our Savior!

This week in San Antonio we have been celebrating our city's traditional Fiesta Festival! The town is full of festive colors and events that take place over a 2 week period. One of the most poplular events are the parades.

Since I was a kid I have attended these parades with my family and continue the tradition by taking my own children to ooh and aah over the fun & festive floats and the stunning fashons of the Fiesta Royal Court. I started thinking that these parades are nothing like the Triumphal Entry of when Jesus made his way into Jerusalem on Palm Suday. The people waved palm branches that proclaimed goodness & victory! This parade was for their Savior who would take away the sins of the world!

The Royal Welcome

Matthew 21: 1-11

1-3When they neared Jerusalem, having arrived at Bethphage on Mount Olives, Jesus sent two disciples with these instructions: "Go over to the village across from you. You'll find a donkey tethered there, her colt with her. Untie her and bring them to me. If anyone asks what you're doing, say, 'The Master needs them!' He will send them with you."

4-5This is the full story of what was sketched earlier by the prophet:

Tell Zion's daughter,

"Look, your king's on his way,

poised and ready, mounted

On a donkey, on a colt,

foal of a pack animal."

6-9The disciples went and did exactly what Jesus told them to do. They led the donkey and colt out, laid some of their clothes on them, and Jesus mounted. Nearly all the people in the crowd threw their garments down on the road, giving him a royal welcome. Others cut branches from the trees and threw them down as a welcome mat. Crowds went ahead and crowds followed, all of them calling out, "Hosanna to David's son!" "Blessed is he who comes in God's name!" "Hosanna in highest heaven!"

10As he made his entrance into Jerusalem, the whole city was shaken. Unnerved, people were asking, "What's going on here? Who is this?"

11The parade crowd answered, "This is the prophet Jesus, the one from Nazareth in Galilee."

I give thanks for that triumphant day and the days that followed...because of his obedience and sacrifice I am forgiven and healed!!

Psalm 84:1 -2

How lovely is your dwelling place, O Lord Almighty!

My soul yearns, even faints, for the courts of the Lord;

my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.

Friends...We were made to crave.

Yes - desire, yearn and crave...Our God.

The Creator of Heaven & Earth.

Unfortunately, we have been lured away from desiring God the most

and replaced it with cravings for our sinful selves, the lust of our eyes

and

the boasting of ourselves.

1 John 2:15-16 (Amplified Bible)

Do not love or cherish the world or the things that are in the world.

If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in him.

For all that is in the world - the lust of the flesh (craving for sensual gratification) and the lust of the eyes (greedy longings of the mind) and the pride of life (assurance in one's own resources or in the stability of earthly things) - these do not come from the Father but are from the world (itself).

On page 21 in the MTC book - Lysa shares how our eyes are being fascinated by the love of so many things. She breaks down the 3 ways we are lured by our cravings.

Cravings = trying to get our physical desires met outside the will of God.

Lust of our eyes = trying to get our material desires met outside the will of God.

Boasting = trying to get our need for significance met outside the will of God.

But hang in there folks!!
You are fixing to get some TRUTH spoken to you and it will set you Free!!!

I am praying for you and as a group we are all believing for some mighty break-thru's from the strongholds & habits in our lives that have sabotaged us for too long!

What is a stronghold you might ask?

2 Corinthians 10:4-5

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Anything known or unknown that repeatedly sets itself up against the truth of God's Word.

Known strongholds are matters that we know are clearly repetitious & unacceptable both biblically and culturally - but we still carry on with them.

Unknown strongholds are matters that are hidden under laziness, ignorance, lack of understanding and may be culturally acceptable but biblically unacceptable.

For some their battle comes in the form of food...but what we will be learning over the next several weeks can be applied to whatever it is that you crave.

May our appetites change from desiring food, facebook, fashion and fun...to making healthy choices in all areas of our lives. And it's not that these things are bad...it's that sometimes they become greater than the things of God in our lives.

After watching the first video of this series I asked our group some questions about their "Want To" and how they are feeling right now.
This is their response.

"Changing how I eat makes me sad."

"I am resistant to a "want to" at this point...but as the knowledge comes forth my want to will want to change."

"I get negative thoughts"

"I need help because I deprive myself of food because I am a workaholic."

"My weight struggle interferes with my life. It interferes with my confidence, my relationships...how I respond to my spouse and my kids...how I respond to touch, etc..."

One lady shared - "Yea, I have a want to! I want to because I have to fit in a dress for my son's wedding!"

One of the most interesting comments was from one of my friends that makes healthy choices regarding her food and taking care of herself. She said..."Being on the healthy side has effected some friendships". She is trying to find a balance because some folks have a hard time with her not eating sweets or other stuff like she use to.

Can you relate to any of these comments?

How is your Want To?

May you be empowered by God to make better choices and to have the "Want To" to do it!!

This journey will challenge you to make some tough sacrifices but think of it as taking care of yourself by making a healthy decision...other than thinking of it as depriving yourself from something that taste good, looks good but is oh so bad!

Everything is permissable - but not everything is beneficial.

What reasons motivate you to be healthier?

After being diagnosed with breast cancer and experiencing the biggest battle for my life this past year - I have made a decision to take better care
of what God has given me.
In the midst of the battle I learned so much about myself, my body and my God that I want to crave wellness with Him and my body more than other stuff.
I am making the choice to live an "It Is Well With My Soul" life as best as I can...and to help others grow in the knowledge I have experienced - and hopefully spare them from having to take the difficult field trip.
So I end with this..please take care of yourself and listen to your body...most importantly listen to what God's Word, the Holy Bible, says about the hope & power available to you...and trust God to help you!

Hello My Bloggy Friends!

I'm Back!!!!

It is so exciting to be sitting here typing and returning to something I have had to set aside for a lengthy season in my life. I look forward to catching up with old friends and meeting some new ones.

Thanks for stopping by...I hope you stay a while and enjoy your visit!

GRAND NEW THINGS!

You crown the year with a bountiful harvest, even the hard pathways overflow with abundance.

Psalm 65:11

We may not know what our days will bring into our lives. There will no doubt be new opportunities, challenges and a variety of circumstances for us to experience but one thing will always remain the same...Jesus Christ. He never changes. His promises are the same yesterday, today and forever!! I am so grateful that I know Him as my Savior and Lord!

When we come to the start of each new day we will have decisions to make.

It will be our option of how we will respond to what comes to the doorstep of our lives.

It will be our decision as to what our priorities will be for that day.

It will be our choice to select what we wear, eat and where we will go.

The beautiful thing about each new day is that with Christ we are not alone and through Him we can experience a fresh new start!

I love new accessories, new recipes, and new knowledge!

And lately I have come to love and appreciate each new day, new year and new beginning!

When January 2010 started I had no idea that I would be facing one of my most difficult yet most amazing years of my life. The first months of that new year were filled with so much excitement as we planned for our daughter Meredith's wedding. The whole preparation and outcome of it was blessed with joy, love and laughter! Then on May 15th our lives were suddenly interrupted with the news that I was diagnosed with breast cancer.

When 2010 wrapped up we were different folks...all glory to God for our changed lives!

We ended the year giving thanks for the difficult pathways that the Lord was bringing us through and for the abundance of provided blessings He distributed along the way!

As we approached 2011 it was evident that we were fixing to enter into a Grand New Year!

We were overjoyed with the completion of my chemo treatments and exuberant in the announcement that we were going to become Grandparents!!

What an amazing way to end our year!!!!

And while I am still in a healing phase and preparing for the next round of surgeries...I am anticipating many Grand New Things for my life.

I do not know exactly what those new things will be or what this new year has for me but I do know that...

I choose not to go to bed angry or worried.

I choose not to let doubt or regret linger.

I choose not to fear for my future or the future of my loved ones.

I choose to celebrate.

I choose to give.

I choose to receive.

I choose to forgive.

I choose to love God and others.

I choose to give thanks.

I choose to laugh.

I choose to sing.

I choose to dance.

I choose to make changes that will make a difference in my home, in my relationships, my faith and my environment.

My comfort in my sufferings is this -

The Lord's Promises and Words give me hope, and renew my life! Every Word is a miracle word!

He steady's my steps with His Words of Promise so that NOTHING malign or malignant gets the best of me! His Promises have been tested through and through...there is evidence of it all around!

Let's Celebrate our Girlfriends!!

Throughout the month of May I was holding a celebration event to honor the women in our lives. Thank you to my special guests that shared wisdom and hope to encourage us!

The month was so busy with end of the school year activities and schedules that I did not get to finish posting all my celebrations!!

I am going to continue today by Celebrating My Girlfriends!

Good girlfriends that are faithful and true are hard to find.

When you do find them - they are even harder to leave...and impossible to forget!!

In my life I have been very blessed to have had so many amazing women come into my life!

Some for short seasons...other's for long journeys.

Some I have lost touch with...other's I have crossed paths again.

Some I have learned from up close and personal...other's from a distance.

Celebrating our Girlfriends is like pouring out colorful confetti that adds a special touch our day!!

Their lifestyles challenge us to change.

Their faith leads us to hope.

Their encouragement gives us guidance to move forward.

Their courage inspires our strength.

Their humor changes our countenance.

They bring reality to our dreams and wisdom to our wondering...and our wandering!!

The Gift of Hope

Romans 5:1-4 says, "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; and perseverance, character; and character, hope."

Everyone wants to have hope, but how do you get it? Hope, like everything else, has a price tag. Sometimes the price is too high (as in the parable with the Pearl of Great Price), and sometimes it is priceless. First, we have to remember to go to the source of great hope. If we hope in anything other than God, our efforts are in vain. And it is only through trials that we can develop this great hope. Hope is something anyone can obtain, and with hope comes great peace.

When I was 37 years old, I was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive strain of cancer, leiomyosarcoma. I had great hope that God could heal me. I knew that I would need much perseverance to make it through the journey, as my patience was already wearing thin just waiting endless hours in doctor's offices. Each time I started wondering how my story would turn out (though I always believed God would heal me), I found encouragement in the most unlikely places.

Here is an excerpt from my book, "Hear my Cry: How Grace Conquered Cancer:"

It is not at all unusual for complete strangers to approach me and call me by name. Many times they have seen me at church or watch my dad on TV, and occasionally they have attended school with one of my siblings or attended a conference with my mother. So when a blonde lady I had never met before approached me in the middle of my neighborhood Target, I thought nothing of it.

She said, “You don’t know me, but God told me to stop here and talk to you.” She had my attention. Normally when people tell me, “You don’t know me,” it is followed by them calling me by name and saying, “I have known you since you were this big,” as they hold their hand at their knee cap. But this obvious stranger hadn’t given any of the usual responses, which further intrigued me.

I knew the woman standing in front of me was either a total nut case having a manic moment, or this was absolute divine intervention in my life. I was looking for the store security guard just in case, and holding on tightly to my new purse.

She looked me straight in the eye and said, “I want you to know that you are totally healed. The Lion of Judah is roaring for you, and when the Lion of Judah speaks, everyone listens. I should not be here this morning, but God told me to come to this Target, completely out of my way, and talk to the first lady that came up on my right. I am late for work, but I felt this word was too important not to deliver. I don’t know you or your situation, but whatever you are going through, you must know that God is on your side.” And with that, she turned on her heels and went right out into the parking lot.

You could have knocked me over with a feather as cold chills began to spiral through my body. God had sent a total stranger to find me and deliver a healing message at Target (Matthew 28:20). I wasn’t in church or at a prayer meeting. I was at Target! God had sent his messenger to find me right where I was. I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry as I stood there in total shock, staring into space. My feet were made of stone, and I couldn’t move in any direction as the joy of the Lord flooded my soul (Psalm 67).

That morning gave whole new meaning to shopping being a religious experience. No specialist had even defined the scope of my illness, much less confirmed my healing; yet God used a total stranger to reiterate that he was totally in control. God had shown up, completely unexpected, and let me know that he was going to be the fourth man in my fire. In case I wasn’t listening when my friends and family told me, he grabbed an extra stranger off the highway to swing by Target and run the message by me one more time.

In closing I want to encourage you with this...

HOPE ~ a belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one's life.

For Christian's hope is a spiritual truth. It is one of the three theological virtues - Faith, Hope, and Love.

These truths are scattered throughout the Bible.
They give us strength, wisdom and light on our pathways.

When we hope - we desire and expect to receive a provision from our Lord.
When we hope - we do not hope like the world does and place selfish desires before the Lord.
When we hope - we do so knowing that in fact God is our hope and he is our desire.

Seeking Him and hoping in Him sustains us through trials, tragedies and overwhelming difficulties that would otherwise defeat us.

He is our salvation.
Romans 8:24
For in this hope we were saved.

He is our grace.
Ephesians 2:8-9
For it is by grace you have been saved through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.

Spiritual grace gives us "unmerited favour" that is often described by theologians as "enabling power sufficient for progression".
Without it there are certain faults, weaknesses and situations we cannot overcome.

He is our anchor.
Hebrew 6:19
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.

He is our strength.
Psalm 31:24
Be strong and take heart, all who you hope in the Lord.

Isaiah 40:31
...those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

He is our rest.
Psalm 62:5
Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from him.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Hear My Cry! The Power of Prayer

Today and tomorrow I have the sweet honor to share with you a friend that will testify and share with us a powerful message of hope!

Her vibrant heart is of one that lives in remembrance of what the Lord has done for her.

HEAR MY CRY!

The power of prayer is a tool that we completely underestimate. We use it as a last-ditch effort when everything else has failed, and we cannot come up with a better solution derived from our own ingenuity.

Matthew 7:7-8 says, "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

"Matthew 6:33-34 says, "But seek ye FIRST the kindgom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

"I was a 37-year-old mother of two precious girls with perfect health when out of the blue I was diagnosed over the phone with leiomyosarcoma, a cancer that affects four out of every one million sarcoma patients. I would find out shortly that I had the most aggressive strain, and that there were very few survivors that lived to tell their story.

I lived to tell mine in my new book, "Hear My Cry: How Grace Conquered Cancer." Here is an excerpt from my book telling of my first prayer, asking God to Hear my Cry (Psalm 61) right after I had been diagnosed.

I wanted to knock very, very loudly that night so God would know he had my full attention. I wanted him to know I was not like Moses; I wanted to learn whatever he was trying to tell me the very first time. I did not want to be wandering in this cancer wilderness for forty years. I did not even want to be Samuel, who had to be called by God three times before he realized who was talking. I got it! I was ready. I wanted to be “all ears” like H. Ross Perot. Whatever God was telling me, I wanted to catch the full meaning on the first lap around the mountain. I did not want to die searching for the Promised Land.

I got down on my knees with my head and ankle throbbing and said, “God, thank you for this opportunity. I don’t know what you want me to do right now or how this will turn out, but I know that you knew the answer before I knew there was a problem. Thank you for trusting me with this cancer. Thank you for allowing me to grow in you. I know you must trust me a lot to give me such a great assignment, so I want you to know that I am listening. I want to hear you the very first time. I don’t know how long or difficult this road will be, but I ask that you give me strength for the journey. I’m not asking you to make my journey easier or the road shorter; I’m just asking for you to be with me, to guide me, and to give me your strength, because I simply cannot do this on my own. And I am begging you to please let me live, if this be your will, because I would love to be able to spend the rest of my long life with my two precious little girls whom you gave me. Please don’t let them watch their mommy die. In Jesus’ name, amen.”

And that was it. The peace of God surrounded me like a warm blanket throughout my cancer journey, and led me to a completely miraculous healing just four short months later. The journey was not easy, but the support that surrounded me at every turn was overwhelming.

Continuing with this month's theme of CELEBRATING, HONORING AND ENCOURAGING the women in our lives...I want to take the time today to CELEBRATE Mi Hermana's!!

In previous blogs I have mentioned that I come from a family of 7 children.
There are 5 girls and 2 boys in our clan.

With my mom being a military wife and then a widow...the older girls had the great joy of helping take care of us little ones (my brother's and I)...especially me since I was the precious baby!

My sisters were my babysitter's, my playmate's and later in life two of them took on the sudden role of becoming my place of shelter and protection.

Because of my sister's...

* I know all about Disco! I remember often watching some of my sisters get all fixed up to go out dancing...oh how I would beg for them to take me with them...ha, ha...I was in elementary school and could not understand why they would not let me join them!!

Because of my sister's...

* I have a love for a variety of music because of my exposure to musicians like Carole King, The Beatles, Carly Simon, James Taylor, Fleetwood Mac, Doobie Brothers, Joni Mitchell, Simon & Garfunkel, Moody Blues, Gino Vanelli, The Bee Gee's, Donna Summer, The Commodores and lets not forget The Osmond's and Bobby Sherman!! LOL!

Because of my sister's...

I have discovered some great recipes and tasted some wonderful treats! They are all great cooks and bakers!!

Because of a sister...

* I got a job at a clothing boutique...had the opportunity to meet and work with some pretty amazing women - each of them poured into my life so much kindness, and wisdom!! The whole experience was a provision of God!

Because of a sister...

* I had the opportunity during my high school years to attend an amazing Church and go to Christian concerts. I had never heard worship and the message of Christ presented like that. The message and the music gave me hope and is where I began my journey with Christ!

Growing up with these gals was always an educational and learning experience.
Sometimes I learned from their personal choices and difficult journeys...other times I learned from their unselfish giving and provision.

I am grateful for my sister's, our family and our birth order.

Break Some Glass!

Welcome to our second day with my special guest -
Author and Speaker: DONDI SCUMACI!

My latest book Ready, Set…Grow invites you to pull from your life what doesn’t work, plant into it what does, so you can produce something extraordinary. The journey begins with what you believe. We all have self-limiting beliefs. They hold us back, and keep us from realizing our possibility. Here is an excerpt from Chapter 1 of “Grow.” I hope you enjoy it.

A root-bound plant has run out of room to grow. The life-giving root system becomes so confined and twisted that it cannot bring nutrients to the vine. The same can happen with our roots, which are the beliefs that bind us to our current condition and shape our future.

A story that illustrates this is of a farmer who plants a large field of pumpkins. Early in the season, he walks through the rows inspecting the new crop. The pumpkins are just beginning to appear on the vine.

Thrown off to the side of the rows is a glass jar. As an experiment, he places one of the tiny pumpkins (still on the vine) inside the jar. When he returns a few weeks later, the crop is flourishing! The pumpkins have grown so much . . . with the exception of one. The pumpkin inside the jar has grown to fill the glass. It has completely conformed to this prison and simply run out of room to grow.

What happened to that pumpkin also happens to people. What we believe about ourselves, others, our future, and even our past will shape our growth and influence our results. If we want to grow, we must learn to break the glass of self-limiting beliefs.

If what we believe about ourselves and what we believe about our future possibility are contained in a vessel that will not allow us to stretch and grow, we become root-bound.

Picture yourself holding a glass jar containing your current life—a life conformed within that glass jar of your own beliefs about . . .

Yourself and your abilities
Your future and your possibilities
Other people
Life situations and events

As you continue reading you will learn to break the jar of self-limiting beliefs and free the roots of your potential.

It is easy for the roots of belief to become twisted and tangled. When they do, our relationships and results suffer. Unbinding the roots is a four-step process:

1. Identify the beliefs that limit you.
2. Understand how those beliefs are impacting your results and relationships.
(Understanding the impact will motivate you to make the changes necessary.)
3. Exchange self-limiting beliefs for empowering ones.
4. Identify beliefs you want to add to yourself. These are possibilities you may not have considered until now, but they are possibilities. (And they can be yours.)

I encourage you to break some glass today, because you were Designed for Success and built to Grow!

As I mentioned in yesterday's blog, over the next few weeks we are going to specifically take the time to Encourage, Honor and Celebrate the women in our lives!!

I have special friends and guests lined up to share wisdom, hope and love. It is all of our desires that The Word, the testimonies and the stories will strengthen your faith, your relationships, your homes and your journeys.

Several years ago at a ladies conference, I had the wonderful privilege to meet and work alongside an amazing speaker and author named Dondi Scumaci. Besides being drawn to her unique name, I was impressed with her captivating confidence and her passion that is full of His power and might!

Put Your Own Oxygen Mask on First!

Women can be very good at taking care of others. Many of us have a nurturing gene hardwired right into our DNA. And women are strong. When you combine these two elements, the result is both beautiful and heartbreaking. Beautiful because of the difference we can make in the lives of others. Heartbreaking when we forget to take care of ourselves in the process.

But selflessness is a good thing, right? Yes and no. Like anything, if it is overdone or under managed it will begin to undo us. If we do not include ourselves in the list of people we take care of, we will soon be running on empty.

Empty includes energy, clarity, creativity….and what the heck, we might just as well insert all the gifts of the spirit here. Empty. Poured out. Dry. That is heartbreaking. (Trust me, I've been there, and I'm betting you can relate.)

Empty is not attractive (or heroic). It looks tired and worn. Empty sounds impatient and resentful. No, empty is not pretty or dynamic or effective.

To illustrate "empty," I often use the airline safety demonstration. (I travel a great deal and I've memorized that little speech.) The flight attendant goes through a list of do's and don'ts and "in case of emergencies" at the beginning of each flight. Pointing here and there, the exits are highlighted and we learn how to buckle our seat belts. Then she comes to the part about "sudden cabin pressure changes". We try not to imagine what that might be like as she demonstrates "putting your own oxygen mask on first." For the longest time I got stuck right there.

Put my own mask on first? (Sounds pretty selfish to me.)

I'd like think of myself as the person slapping masks on others before taking care of myself. I'm good in a crisis. (I imagined myself running through the cabin securing masks on young and old alike.) It bothered me enough to ask about it, and this is what I learned. If I don't put my own mask on first, I WILL PASS OUT IN 30 SECONDS. If that happens I can't help others and I am now in the way! Then I understood these ground rules:

I cannot give what I do not have and that means I must take time to restore.

I must give my permission to take care of myself and I must not call that selfish.

I must set boundaries and learn how to say, "No" without feeling guilty.

If I fail to set boundaries and others take advantage of me, I am responsible for the damage.

I must be careful about what I "put in" and "take on," because these are things that will shape my life and my ability to serve.

I encourage you to "put on your own mask" today. Give yourself permission to take care of you, so that you can pour yourself into the life of others and never run dry.

A Month of Celebration and Honor!

I am going to take time this month to concentrate on the expressions of Celebrating and Honoring. This will specifically include paying tribute to those ladies in our lives that we have profound gratefulness, love & respect for.

Throughout the rest of this month I have invited some special friends and guests to share precious jewels of wisdom, joy and love to encourage you in your own personal journey. Intertwined with their messages we will share stories to celebrate women who have inspired us personally.

I cannot wait to introduce them to you as we CELEBRATE our Mothers, Daughters, Sisters, Girlfriends and Mentors!!

Let the Celebrations Begin!!

There is something that all of us have in common...We all have a mom.

Today I would like to Celebrate and Honor the one who brought me into this world...My Momma!

My mom gave birth to 7 children. Guess which number I am?
She was a military wife that became a widow when I was 4 years old.
Her strength and endurance is what I want to honor today.

She came from a large family herself.
She experienced a hard life with much heartache, suffering and struggles.
She was determined to provide for us and had to overcome much to accomplish that.

About 11 years ago my mom completed her journey here on earth after experiencing a difficult battle with cancer. My final days with her were some of the most precious memories that I will forever cherish!

I would sit by her hospital bedside and read The Word of God (The Bible) to her and sing songs over her...she thanked me as she squeezed my hand and smiled.

Little did she know that I had prayed many years for that day when we would share the joys of Christ together.

Today - I rejoice knowing that the Lord has rescued her and that she is now completely whole and full of joy! She is free from pain, heartache and despair and as my husband has said several times..."She would not return here for nothing"!

I miss her and her tortillas!!

I would also like to take this time to Celebrate and send a greeting to my mother -in law this Mothers Day.

Nonni, THANK YOU for extending much mercy and love to this favorite Daughter -in - law of yours! You will never know how much your compassion and prayers have affected my life...I love you!

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!!

I Could Have Missed This!

This past weekend I was in the Houston, Texas area speaking at Crosspoint Fellowship in Pearland. HELLOOO to all my new friends in that area and the awesome team that organized and put their special touches into that wonderful day!!! The Lord was magnified through you!

I took a few pictures that I will have to post later due to computer problems...so come back and check them out later in the week!

After each event I like to pause and spend time with God and thank Him for His provision's and review with Him the details of the ministry event. At times the review of it all can be so overwhelming!! Especially when I realize - I could have missed meeting these wonderful ladies...I could have missed this time in His presence...I could have missed the words He speaks to me in the midst of all the preparation and delivery...I could have missed watching Him transform lives...I could have missed all of this and more!!

This particular weekend was huge on the scale of thanking God for what He did in arranging this event on my calendar, as well as what He allowed me to witness with my eyes and soak in my soul...and to think...

If I had not believed...I could have missed it!

If I had not surrendered...I could have missed it!

I I had not opened & studied His Word...I could have missed it!

If I had not trusted...I could be have missed it!

If I had not prayed...I could have missed it!

If I had not prepared...I could have missed it!

I praise Him for His revelation in my life and His endurance with me!

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints and his incomparably great power for us who believe.

That power is like the working of His mighty strength, which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms, far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.

And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.

Day 5 ~ What Christians Believe...

"He Descended Into Hell..."

My favorite icon (those ancient pictures which Christians in the Orthodox East use as instruments of worship) is called “The Harrowing of Hell”. It depicts Jesus coming out of the tomb - not gently, but leaping, his robe fluttering behind him in the wind almost like a kind of Superman’s cape! Scattered all around him are the broken down doors, the shattered wood, and the broken locks and hinges of hell itself. With one hand he is grasping Adam and with another he is holding on to Eve, and a whole crew of people are scurrying out behind him. He has just conquered hell and freed its captives.

When the Apostle John was in exile on the Isle of Patmos he had a vision of the risen Lord who told him, “I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades” (Revelation 1.18). From whence did he get those keys? Well, he got them from death and hell and the grave - when he descended there in his own death. While he was in hell he not only experienced the depths of human death, he not only preached to those who were there, he also conquered the evil powers! Paul writes, “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross” (Colossians 2.15).

The early Church Fathers have seen this descent into hell as a fulfillment of Job 40.1, where God asks Job, “Who can capture with a hook the great sea monster Leviathan [the Dragon]?” In his descent into hell, as a human, Jesus “tricked” the trickster, the devil, that old serpent, the dragon. Saint Cyprian wrote, “The divine power of God’s son was a kind of fishhook hidden by the covering of human flesh”. Saint Gregory of Nyssa wrote, “...the deceiver reaps the harvest of the seeds he sowed with his own free will. For he who first deceived man by the bait of pleasure is himself deceived by the camouflage of human nature...”! John of Damascus explained it like this: “Wherefore death approaches, and swallowing up the body as a bait is transfixed on the hook of divinity, and after tasting of the sinless and life-giving body, perishes, and brings up again all whom of old he swallowed up. For just as darkness disappears on the introduction of light, so is death repulsed before the assault of life, and brings life to all, but death to the destroyer”.

Do you see the brilliance of this strategic move? Satan rejoices in the death of Jesus, and the demons of hell celebrate his descent into their territory! But the shouts of joy soon turn to howls of terror when they realize that the One among them is himself Life and Light that cannot be extinguished! To put it another way, hells gates are broken down from the inside out! The great reversal has begun.

Day 4 ~ What Christians Believe. Jesus Christ...Born of the Virgin Mary

"Who For Us And For Our Salvation Came Down From Heaven"

We now come to the central truth of Christianity: “Who for us and for our salvation came down from heaven”. God the Son, the very manifestation of the invisible God himself, the one who is the Word of God and brought all things into existence, the one who revealed himself to Moses and Joshua and the Prophets, “came down from heaven”. And his coming from the heavenly dimension into our realm of the physical was not just for a visit, but for an eternal union with what he had made, and in particular with humanity. But it must be emphasized that this wonderful act was not for himself - he didn’t “need” to join himself to us - he did it for “us and for our salvation”. The very act of the incarnation (“enfleshing”) was to save creation and restore mankind to himself. It was an act of love.

How he came down from heaven was that he became “incarnate by the Holy Spirit of the Virgin Mary”. In the third and final clause of the creeds we will learn more of the Holy Spirit, but here we see the Spirit of God is referenced as that life, that energy, that “flow” between the Father and the Son, and it was by the Spirit that the Son became flesh. The angel Gabriel appeared to the Virgin Mary and told her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God” (Luke 1.35).

And thus, for us, was God “made man”. In the womb of the Virgin Mary God joined himself to his creation. He took the flesh of Mary - her egg, and joined himself to her flesh and the child born was without human father but was of human mother. “The Word became flesh” (John 1.14). In the early Church the Virgin was given the title, “Mary, Mother of God”. Some people have been thrown off by this title, feeling that it elevated Mary to too high an honor. Laying aside for a moment that the Bible actually says that all generations will call her Blessed and that she is blessed among all women (Luke 1.42, 48), the title is not about Mary, but about Jesus. The title is not a marian statement, but a christological statement. It is saying that what was in the womb of Mary was really and truly God, “true God of true God”! In the inner chamber of humanity, in the womb of the Virgin Mary, God became man. He did not simply put on a human costume. He became man. Never again to not be man! God elevated the stuff of our nature to the place of Divinity eternally! Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man and the two shall nevermore be divided or separated. A man - one of us - sits enthroned in the heavenlies forever and is God Almighty! And it was all an act of love, a reuniting, a reconciling: “God was in Christ Jesus, reconciling the world to himself, not counting men’s sins against them” (2 Corinthians 5.19)!

Day 3 ~ What Christians Believe. In One God...

"I Believe In One God..."

Christians have looked for a single verse to capsulize the entire Gospel, and many have settled on John 3.16. This is the verse that many little Christian boys and girls memorize before they learn any other. In the Hebrew world of the Old Testament, every little Jewish boy and girl also had a first verse to memorize. It was understood to capsulize the whole of their faith, and it was the most important verse in the Bible. In fact, the context of the verse is a command from God through Moses that its content should be memorized, written down, posted on the walls, said before rising from bed and before closing the eyes to sleep. This verse is the epitome of what it means to be Jewish, as opposed to the pagans in the surrounding nations: “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength” (Deuteronomy 6.4-5)

When Jesus was asked what is the greatest commandment in the Bible, being a good and faithful Jew, he immediately quoted the verse he had memorized since his childhood: “Hear O Israel the Lord our God, the Lord is one...” (Mark 12.29). He went on to say that this verse was the fundamental basis for everything else in the Law and the Prophets. So the verse, called in Hebrew the Schema, is foundational not only for the Old Testament faith, but also for the Christian faith.

This idea of one God stands over against two pagan ideas, and you should remember that Judaism was an island of monotheism (“one God”) in a sea of polytheism (“many gods”).

The first pagan idea which belief in one God stands over against is polytheism, the idea that there is a plurality of gods. Idolaters, both ancient and modern, hold that there is a plethora of deities to which we pray and make petition. One god controls the rain, another orders the seasons, another gives strength in battle, another brings fertility to women. There were literally hundreds of gods, all requiring a sacrifice in order to answer a prayer. Often times (as in Greek and Roman mythology) these gods were somewhat scandalous beings epitomizing all the more base characteristics of humans themselves. Sometimes the gods were tricksters and deceivers; sometimes they were drunken sexual predators taking on human form and raping women; sometimes they were fierce in unjust battle and slaughtered innocent people. Almost always they carried some sense of arrogance and had to be appeased in various ways - including the extreme appeasement of human sacrifice. One neighboring nation of Israel worshipped a god named Molech whose chief sacrifice was newborn babies.

In contrast to this Israel stood up and proclaimed, “God is One”! There weren’t a multitude of gods to be petitioned for various favors and appeased with various sacrifices; there was only one and he was unique, holy, and other. He was the God who had made everything and who was himself unlike everyone and everything else.

The second pagan idea that the Schema stands over against is pantheism - the idea that God is the same as creation. In other words, some pagans believed that all things are, in some way, God. The trees are God, the rivers are God, the animals are God, other people are God. Not, mind you, a multitude of gods, but that all things are part of God. There was, among these pagans, no distinction between the Creator and the created. In contrast, the Jews declared that God was wholly other. That everything else, and I mean everything, was made by him, but he was himself unmade. That everything else was finite - had a beginning and an end, but he was himself infinite. That everything else depended on him for its very existence, but he himself depended on no one or nothing. He simply was. He simply is. When Moses encountered God and asked him his name he simply said, “I AM” (Exodus 3.14).

Day 2 ~ I Believe...

Today we come to the question of the week...WHAT DO CHRISTIANS BELIEVE?

Believe -

a: To have a firm religious faith.

b: to accept as true, genuine or real.

Think about it right now - How would you answer that question if someone approached you with it today? How do you think your children would answer that question? Would we all know how to answer with more than just I believe in God...or Jesus?

Todays topic begins the journey of digging into and exploring segments of the Apostle's and Nicene Creeds. Inside Bishop Kenneth's book - "What Christians Believe" - you will find a more extensive exploration of these Creeds side by side. It is what I call - GOOD STUFF!!

It is my prayer that this information will come as new revelation to some readers and for others it will remind and speak to us in a new fresh way. For all - I pray it strengthen's and expand's our desire for greater knowledge of the Bible and the heritage of our faith.

Whatever stage you are at it does not matter. What matters is if you have discovered the wonderful truth that brings you to God.

Belief is necessary for salvation...Do you believe?

Taking it Personally

Being a Christian is a personal thing. I should point out that by personal I don’t mean individual. Being a Christian is not an individual thing. When we become believers in Christ we also become members of his family, his Body, the Church. But as someone has said, “God has no grandchildren”. Our relationship with him isn’t mediated through some other channel so that we are in Christ but don’t know Christ; real faith has a personal dimension to it. You can personally know God. You can personally pray to him. You can personally encounter his presence. You can personally obey him or disobey him. So, when the Creeds begin with “I believe” they mean just that. By personally affirming what the Church believes you are joining together with untold millions of Christians who throughout the ages have also embraced the truth of the Christian faith.

But - and this is a big but - what follows after the words “I believe” is not up to us. Although the Christian faith is personal, it isn’t individualistic. You can’t just make up your own creed (though heaven knows enough people have tried to). “I believe in peanut butter and jelly sandwiches” is not an accurate statement of what it means to be Christian! Our personal faith, our “I believe” joins with the whole of the Church in embracing the faith once delivered to the Apostles by Jesus himself.

How many times have you heard people say, when speaking of some text in the Bible, “Well, what it means to me is...”? Hop efully what they intend to say is, “Well, this is the application the text has for me.” Application is one thing, interpretation is another. We approach the Bible, and the Christian faith, together. We don’t believe whatever we want to believe. We believe what we have received from those who have gone before us. Saint Paul, writing the church in Corinth said, “For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread...” (1 Corinthians 11.23). The words that Paul used for received and passed on are technical words for the passing on of tradition. As Christians, we do the same. Like the Christians in Corinth, we receive the teachings of the Apostles, and we pass them on to those after us. So when we come to the words “I believe” in the Creeds, we should understand that we aren’t making this stuff up as we go. We are standing at the end of a long line of men and women who have defended and protected the precious faith, some with their very lives, in order to pass it on to others. We believe the faith that has been delivered to us from the Prophets (the Old Testament), from Jesus, and from the Apostles (the New Testament), and which has been guarded and kept from their day until ours. What “I believe...” is of necessity what we believe.

Greetings Blog Friends!

Recently I have had the wonderful honor to be reunited with an old friend.
He has long been an inspiration to me with his example, his strong quest for the Lord and his passion for the Word of God.

When I heard he was in the midst of writing a four volume set on the basics of Christianity I was ecstatic! I was even more pumped to discover the first volume of that series is now available!!

This week I have invited him to be my special guest. Beginning today through Friday we will join hearts and efforts together to bring you a chest full of treasures. It is our prayer that these words will awaken, strengthen and stir your understanding and belief in Christ!

Deep Roots

Man, I love Hill Country peaches. If you're not from Texas, you don't know what you've missed in being able to have fresh Hill Country peaches chopped up and mixed in with Blue Bell vanilla ice cream! We all enjoy good fruit - it's not only healthy, it tastes delicious! But good fruit comes from good trees, and good trees come from good roots. Everyone knows that a healthy tree has deep roots. And everyone has heard the analogy of believers being like trees. The Psalmist said that a righteous man is "like a tree planted by streams of water" (Psalm 1.3), and the last book in the Bible describes the people of God as "trees, whose leaves are for the healing of the nations" (Revelation 22.2). Can we talk?

Too much of modern day Christianity produces barely tolerable fruit because it hasn't given much attention to the root system. In the early church (I'm talking about the first 1000 years, when there weren't Methodists and Baptists and Roman Catholics and Presbyterians and Pentecostals and Non-Denominationalists and - well, you get the picture - but when there was simply "the Church")...I got a little carried away there; where were we? Oh, yes: in the early church there were four things that made up the "root system" for growing Christians. I would suggest that we modern followers of Jesus would do well to recover these four things, not just in theory, but in practice. Here they are:

The Creeds
The Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creeds are succinct statements of what it means to believe like a Christian. I'm not going to go into detail here as to what they said (you can Google them, or you can order my new book and explore them in detail!), but suffice it to say that before there was ever a New Testament (which was canonized in A.D. 431) there were these "symbols" of Christian faith which clearly lined out what it meant to think like a believer. In our day of pop-psychology passing for biblical sermons and polls showing that many Christians have no idea what they really believe, we need to rediscover, understand, and embrace these core statements of faith.

The Ten Commandments
These ten "words" are directives from God that show us what it means to behave as Christians. "But that's Old Testament!", someone might cry. And so it is. Of course, it might matter that Jesus himself repeats them (so that makes them New Testament, doesn't it?). The Commandments are not harsh, nor are they burdensome. Ten simple rules that God gives us to direct our lives and which bring a life, not of legalism, but of true liberty.

The Lord's Prayer
This short prayer models how to pray as Christians. When the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray, he gave them an outline to follow (Matthew 6). To this day no one has written or prayed a better prayer (but to be fair, competing with God himself on writing a prayer is a pretty tough challenge)! We ought to pray it everyday. We should study it and understand it.
A serious study of the Lord's Prayer will spiritually form us, and the regular and intentional praying of it will order all the rest of our praying.

Worship
Finally, early Christians were rooted in how to worship.
One of the mistakes we make today is thinking that worship is for us. It isn't. It is for God. So instead of worshiping in a way that I like, maybe I should figure out what God himself says about worship and do it that way. Fortunately, I don't have to work too hard at figuring it out, because it's already been figured out before me. Worship is for an audience of One: God himself. And it involves the people of God (not, mind you, a gathering of individuals, but this single entity called "the Church") gathering in his name, thanking him for his amazing grace, growing in his Word, and feeding on him in the sacraments. Obviously there isn't space here to fully develop all these things (that's what books are for), but we can at least maybe see the importance of focusing on the roots instead of just on the fruit. In the coming articles, I'm going to pull a few ideas from my new book, What Christians Believe, and share just a taste of the power of the Creeds.

HolyThursday ~ Maundy Thursday

Maundy ~ comes from the Latin word mandatum or command.

At the Last Supper Jesus did more that just share a meal with his followers.
He shared symbolic teachings and gestures to nourish them in ways they could not understand.

When he took the bread he blessed it, broke it and distributed it - explaining that this was his body. Then he passed them a cup, telling them that this was his blood that would be poured out for the forgiveness of sins.

He then gave his followers a commandment. (Maundy)

JOHN 13:34-35

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.

Before he was arrested Jesus washed the disciples feet and illustrated the kind of love he spoke of. His words and actions illustrate to us amazing humility and the spirit of servanthood.

I give thanks for these examples and pray I live, love and serve with greater faithfulness...oh that I would love him with my life!

WHY JESUS CAME TO DIE

1. To Take Away Our Condemnation

The great conclusion to the suffering and death of Christ is this;
"There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus." Romans 8:1

To be "in Christ" means to be in relationship to him by faith. Faith in Christ unites us to Christ so that his death becomes our death and his perfection becomes our perfection.

Who is to condemn?
Christ Jesus is the one who died - more than that, who was raised - who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. Romans 8:34

The death of Christ secures our freedom from condemnation.

If God is for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31

2. To Give Eternal Life To All Who Believe On Him

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life; whoever does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God remains on him. John 3:36

Heaven is real...and so is hell!!

3. To Give Marriage It's Deepest Meaning

Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Ephesians 5:25

God's design for marriage in the Bible pictures the husband loving his wife the way Christ loves his people, and the wife responding to her husband the way Christ's people should respond to Him.

4. To Unleash The Power of God In The Gospel

The word of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18

May we embrace the Gospel of Christ and walk in it's power!

5. For The Forgiveness Of Our Sins

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses.
Ephesians 1:7

This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Matthew 26:28

Holy Week

This week always transports me back to my childhood and the memory of a cross that was assembled out of palm leaves and posted above of the door at the entry of our home.

Back then I did not understand or appreciate all the sacred meanings of that week. But now I can look back and see the significance and power of all it's detail.

This week on my blog I want to dig into the word and capture the moments and steps that led Christ closer to his crucifixion.

You will discover that the Lord finds this week so important that he designs all 4 Gospels to include the details of this victorious week! Matthew, Mark, Luke and John all tell of the Christ's Last Supper, Crucifixion and his Ressurection. I find that very interesting!

The journey begins with Palm Sunday (Passion Sunday) as Christ enter's into Jerusalem, where a segment of the roads were covered with cloaks and palm branches for him.

They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,

"Hosanna!

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!

Blessed is the King of Israel!"
John 12:13

Palm branches have been used by nations as an emblem of joy and victory over the enemy.

May this week remind us to hold onto what we know to be true and the victory we have through the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world! Praise and Honor to Him!!

Not my will...

What began years ago as a a nudge that I tried to ignore and push away...has turned into an ache and a burden that I have begun to organize my life around!!

For over 16 years I fought God on the calling to go into ministry. Pitiful I know.

I tried to communicate back to Him that He had the wrong person.
I reminded Him of all my wrong choices...where I had been and what I had done and thought...I explained to Him that I had nothing to offer! I gave Him a list of allllll my inadequacies...my weaknesses and so much more!

He responded by taking me on a journey.

After each excuse I gave Him, He took me through a season that taught me so much about His character. My understanding of His love & kindness has expanded to a capacity that makes me weak in my knees!

I am not saying it was an easy thing to discover that this calling is not about me but I am grateful for His patience with me...sometimes I am a little slow!

He continued by teaching me so much through His word.

Mark 8:34
If anyone intends to come after Me, let him deny himself and...cleave steadfastly to Me.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.

For we walk by faith not by sight.

I came to the point that I did not just hear and learn the following things but I began to acknowledge and truly make application to live it out.

I had to stop believing the lies that played in my head...
Forget my past...
Ignore the reminders of guilt...
Forgive many...
Love and pray for all...even those that are difficult and cause you undeserved pain.
I had to lose sight of my wordly interests and instead invest in things of eternal value.
Live a life of thanks and praise.

As I began to really grow in the knowledge of the word of God I noticed the burden in my heart began to lead me to change.

My appetite changed.
My lifestyle changed.
My interests changed.
My will changed.
My discipline changed.

The next thing that took place was my burden turned into a vision...a strong knowing came over me that I could no longer ignore it!!

In the past my ignorance had kept me wandering and wondering.
It kept me distracted with busyness and delayed with fear and hesitation.

Not any longer!!

Philippians 3:13
...I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of for me.
Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do:
Forgetting what is behind me and straining toward what is ahead.

In 2006 the Lord provided in miraculous ways the opportunity to attend the Proverbs 31 Ministries, She Speaks Conference. It was there that I began a relationship with an amazing ministry and an amazing group of women who are the real deal. Through my experiences with them I have caught and been taught invaluable knowledge in moving forward with this passion that has begun to expand my heart and vision.

Recently I invited my friend, Lysa Terkeurst, of Proverbs 31, to come be my special guest for a special evening of ministry and kingdom purpose.

This evening was the result of an amazing journey with the Lord and a life that has truly begun to say "YES" to the Lord and His Will.

To my family...Thank you for your reflection of His love and grace in the midst of it all! You inspire me! Rick...I will never forget the day you spoke prophetically to me that "It was time to get out of the incubator!"

Happy New Years Everyone!

The kids are back in school and everything is starting to get back to normal...Right?

NO!

I still have my indoor Christmas decorations up...and I am still unpacking from our Christmas trip. As I drive around my area I feel a little better because there are still people that have Christmas lights and lawn decorations out at their houses. I wish I could be like some of my friends that get their stuff put up right after Christmas...it just doesn't happen that way with me.
Especially since we have been out of town and still getting over the yucky cold and cough that we passed around our household.

OH Well ~ Life and the New Year have moved into motion and great things are ahead of us!
Time once again for ending the past and beginning a new.

For me I have already been amazed at the New Year.

This New Year is full of great change for me.

I have recently stepped down from serving with our Womens Ministry and confidently stepping out with the calling and vision the Lord has been stirring in me for sometime.

In great measures the Lord is stretching me but at the same time He is confirming things and bringing things to fruition.

What about you?

Is there something you should not be doing? (Cheating, Lying, Worrying, Disobeying, Not Completing, Overcommiting)

I will share some of my heart and discoveries over the next few weeks as I study for myself and dig into the word for guidance into His plan this year for me. I pray you will do the same for your life.

This year I pray we see a great harvest of people coming to acknowledge Jesus as their Lord and peoples lives displaying a great bundle of fruit!

December Wrap Up!

One of our favorite things to do in December is participate in Christmas Crew!
Here is our group for this year ~ The Hutch & Hutch Gang!

Every year our youth group joins with The Elf Louise organization and helps deliver
presents all around the area.

Each group provides Santa's and Elf Louise provides the outfits and gifts.
It is a highlight for us every year!

Last Friday was a grand day in the life of our little family! Our dear Meredith accomplished her goal of attending & graduating from College.
Not only did she graduate but she graduated with Highest Honors ~~ Summa Cum Laude!!!

This is huge for us since neither Rick or I graduated from College.

As I ironed her graduation gown on Friday morning I began to tear up.

Rick walked in and asked me if my allergies were bothering me...I said "No!"...and then I really cried as I pointed to her gown to express to him why I was crying!

We both are amazed at our daughters accomplishments and the blessings the Lord has provided.

As we think about the past 22 years of prayers that we have prayed for this daughter and how the Lord delivered and took care of us in the midst of some difficult seasons...we both are emotional.

This is the daughter that at a very young age we noticed her ability to perform and choreograph.

Despite us not being able to afford dance classes for her - The Lord provided the gift of dance to develop and strengthen in her as He guided her to become an amazingly gifted dancer and choreographer!

We learned that when He places a gift and calling on your life He will provide the pathway to grow and use it...not always the way the world would accomplish it!

Mere has gone from choreographing neighborhood shows with her friends to

choreographing a multitude of performances and shows for schools and church's.

As well as win awards for her performances.

Now she is on her way to becoming a High School Dance Director!!

What we witnessed last Friday was an amazing thing!

His power gave her skill, determination, and discipline.

What she has done with it is beautiful!

We are so proud of her!

Lots To Share!

So much going on and lots to share!

Since Thanksgiving I have been busy preparing to put on a Market Days event at our church.
The event was last Saturday. It was crazy and fun!

We had around 40 vendors with a variety of great items.
I had a booth with all my Inspired Looks Accessories on display and for sale.
This is one of my favorite shows to do throughout the year because I get to see so many friends and customers that shop every year at this event. It is always nice to hug and catch up a little with these friends that I do not get to see so often.

The Mug N Muffin team, my daughters & some of my girlfriends helped to make that day such a success! I could not have done it without them! THANKS GIRLS!!

I wish I had pictures to show - but never had time to stop and snap any...like I said it was crazy!
I would love to show you what our church looked like...all decked out with decoration for the season, with people everywhere, vendors with their amazing items. Most of all I would like to have shown you the Christmas spirit that was everywhere...people shopping and having a good time with friends and family, families getting Christmas photo's taken by the large display of trees, folks enjoying the live Christmas music that was being performed by my friend Tina Wilson (She RockS!) and in the midst of all that hustle and bustle there was sweet ministry that took place in many different fashions.

A HUGE Thank You to all the vendors and their families for participating in this event with us.
What a special day you helped us deliver!
Praise The Lord for the many people that shopped and helped us raise around $5000. dollars to
benefit the single parents during the Christmas season!

Onto other updates...

CATY MAYER ~

During the week of Thanksgiving Caty had many tests done and received GREAT reports!
On Wednesday we received a text message that announced "The Doctor looked over the scans and said the tumor is gone! Happy Thanksgiving! Praise GOD!"

I screamed - YES! - when I read that!

I wanted to share this update with you since many of you have been praying for Caty and her family. This is a great report and we are rejoicing!

The Doctor says that she will continue with the scheduled plan of treatments even though the tumor has been killed and the bone is restructuring itself. Apparently this type of cancer (Ewings Sarcoma) is known to aggressively return.

Her next session of Chemo treatments begin this Friday - December, 12th.
On Monday - December 15th she will add radiation to her treatments.

Please pray for her as she begins this new phase of her treatments.
They are praying that she will be well enough to enjoy Christmas at home and not at the hospital or be banned from family participation due to low counts and immune system.

She continues to be a courageous young warrior and shares her story often to encourage others!

We enjoyed a night out with their family last weekend...it was a great evening and a rarity since she became ill.

SHARLET LYNN ~

Sharlet is another good friend that battled cancer.
I had her and Caty come be my guest at a ladies event I did at our church.

I wanted to share with you this exciting opportunity she had.
Recently she was featured in Newsweek magazine regarding her cancer journey and the use of the caring bridge website.

We are busy trying to get Christmas decoration up, attend the girls dance performances, attend Christmas parties, Open houses, Graduation, and help with our friends wedding.

This Thanksgiving we decided to stay at home and take it easy.

Only one other time had we not spent Thanksgiving with one of our families.

Aaahhh no packing, no traveling, no time schedule...It was actually kind of nice!

We enjoyed the day with our girls and our good friends, Stephen and Sarah.

It was a good day...

The Cowboys even won!

As I prepared for the day I began to look through my recipe box for a certain recipe and came across this sweet recipe card that was made by Mere Bear when she was around 6 0r 7 years old.

I totally lost it when I read her precious handwriting.

I think I am a bit emotional right now because in a couple of weeks our precious 22 year old pumpkin will be graduating from college!

We truly have so much to be grateful for.

This little pumpkin shaped card was a reminder to me of God's faithfulness and provision throughout the years.

PUMPKIN PANCAKES

2 Cups of Bisquick Mix

1 Cup of Milk

2 Eggs

1 Cup Canned Pumpkin

1 tsp Cinnamon

Mix all ingredients together and pour onto hot griddle.

Enjoy with Syrup or Plain

PRAISE THE LORD , O My Soul, and forget not all his benefits -

A Week of Giving Thanks ~ OH BOY!

This is my niece Priscilla and her precious family.

I am grateful for them and for God's provision and protection in their lives.

I am also grateful that I get to watch their baby Egil (pronounced Eagle)

when my schedule allows.

I Am Cooking Now!

Over the past 8 years I have been learning to cook.

I am sure you are wondering what I did the other 15 years of my married life!

Rick has always loved to cook. It is something he learned & inherited from watching his Dad and his Pop grill and cook.

I - well.... I just faked it! How? By buying non-nutrional, pre-made dinners. When Rick was not cooking something up I would pop in those box things and kaboom! We had dinner!

My mom was always a really great cook and baker. It seems my sisters have that same gift!
For me it has taken a little longer to develop but I am finding my way!

Rick has been a great encouragement and always cheers for me and compliments me when

I accomplish new recipes! (Thanks Honey!)

There are several reasons why I think I never learned to cook.

1. I was not allowed in the kitchen!

2. I was the baby of 7 kids. Everyone has taken care of all that stuff for me.

Even when I became an adult...they gave me the easy the job of bringing the paper wares or soda's to our family gatherings...from there I moved up to bringing the dips and chips (which has now been passed on to me niece Dee Dee).

My kids love it when we eat at home as a family.

That is one of the reasons I started to learn how to cook and to give those recipe books a try! Opening up a recipe book use to intimidate me. Not any more - I Am Cooking Now!

One of the favorite things my family loves for me to make is my soups. Soups that have a real name and not Soup Surprise!

Here is my recipe for my version of Potato Soup (minus garlic - since I am allergic to that!).

As the weather is getting colder, somewhere besides where I live, I hope you enjoy making this for your family!

VERONICA'S SLOW COOKER POTATO SOUP

1 Can chicken broth (can substitute with a fat free, less sodium broth)

4 Cups of peeled and cubed potato's (approximately 2 pounds).

1/2 to 1 Cup of chopped onions

1 Cup of chopped celery

3/4 Cup thin sliced carrots

3 Tablespoons butter , cut into small pieces

Salt - sprinkle desired amount

Pepper - sprinkle desired amount

1/4 Cup all purpose flour

1 1/2 Cups 2% reduced fat milk

Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Place the first 8 ingredients in your slow cooker; stir well.
Cover with lid and cook on high heat for 1 hour.

Reduce to low heat and cook for 4 more hours. Make sure vegetables are tender.

Increase to high heat.

Put flour in a bowl and gradually add milk, stirring with a whisk until well blended.
Add flour mix into the soup and stir until blended.
Cook ,uncovered, for 25 minutes or until it thickens. Stir frequently as needed.

Pour into bowls and top with sprinkled cheese.
Serve with a salad and crescent rolls.
Delicious!

* I like to double this recipe so there is plenty for seconds or leftovers!
* For easy cleanup use the Slow Cooker Liners (pictured beside the slow cooker).
* Add garlic if you choose!

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!

Since November 11, 1926 there has been a legal holiday to honor the end of WWI and those that have served. Twelve years later it became a National Holiday.
On June 1, 1954 the name was changed to honor all US Veterans that have fought for our country.

To all my family and friends that have bravely served our country I salute you and say thank you!

To my nephew Mark who is stationed in Korea. We miss you buddy and look forward to your visit in February! Just this morning Priscilla, Aunt Irma and I were talking about you!

Dear Barack,

Congratulations on becoming the next President of the United States of America. It is a historic moment and you are the Lord's leader for our country. Although I did not vote for you, I look forward to praying for you over the next four years. My prayer is that the Lord will give you wisdom, knowledge, and insight in all the decisions you will have to make. I pray for your marriage, that you and Michelle will stay close and be an example of love for the nation and the world to follow. I pray for your family, that your girls will continue to enjoy their "Dad time" away from the media spotlight. I pray that the Lord gives you all the grace and strength and courage you need to do the job that is before you. Keep your eyes on Jesus and find your strength in His Word. If you need anything from me, don't hesitate to call.

Speak clearly to your children and graciously but emphatically draw a line in your work places and social circles regarding your stand against prejudice of any kind.

Here Is My Election 2008 Button Collection. I have been wearing a different button almost everyday for the past several weeks. Can you guess which one is my favorite?

Did you vote today or did you do early voting?
Our household did early voting.
Uncle Rico and I walked down the street to our local library the other day and voted.
We decided to walk and save fuel since the parking was going to be tricky anyways.
After we voted we held hands and walked home. What a great day! We Saved Gas - Voted - and Exercised together by walking!

She has been campaigning and talking about this election for a while now.

She even has her text messages end with the signature saying - "McCain Palin 08!.
I love it!
Everyday she keeps up with what is going on. She is even informed about the stock market by her friend Kelly...Again...this generation of young folks are amazing!!

Our little Warrior!!

We just tucked her into bed and told her that Barack Obama had just won the election.
She handled it with grace. I know on the inside she was steaming!
Rick told her good job on her campaigning efforts and we prayed for her, our country, our new President and the McCain Team.

Our Pastor gave a perfect message to guide and encourage the congregation during this election week. This morning I was reading the Proverbs 31 Devotional and my friend Micca's message which then led me to her blog. Her discussion was about the "ugly one" (my name for satan) who tries to steal your joy. She shares details about how to keep your joy.
As I read her blog I kept thinking about how I have handled being robbed of joy and other things. Well, I sing!
Thinking of this inspired me to write about a couple of songs that have given me encouragement in the midst of difficulty, despair and decision making.

There are many songs that have given me hope to carry on.
If you know my testimony you have heard about times in my life that fear, loneliness and sadness surrounded my life. You also know that I always share about the great Jesus music I was introduced to in my teen years. The message through the music broke through and rescued me! During some of the lowest times in my life those words spoke life and healing to my soul...it saved my life! Even to this day I still listen to those artists and their music and it continues to have a huge part in transforming and guiding my life.
While it does not replace the Word of God...it is the word and melody of God being sung over us.
And in case you have not heard...Praise is a weapon! With Praise and Song we can Win battles!

Are you needing encouragement for a situation you are in today?
Is there sadness looming around you?
Do you have a prayer need that aches your heart?

The past several weeks I have taken a break from blogging...but I am back!

Here is what I have been up to...

* Staying in my pj's till afternoon! I am not kidding!

* Seeking God for wisdom and guidance regarding the remainder of this year and the upcoming year.

* Praying for upcoming events and speaking engagements.

* I performed with Ali Bug during a halftime show featuring the dancers and their moms. That was hillarious and sweet!!

* Rick and I went to the Neil Diamond concert. It was part of our Anniversary celebration. The girls had given us a gift certificate to a nice Italian Restaurant on our anniversary so we thought it would be good to use it before we headed to the concert. The evening was so wonderful!
We loved the place we ate at and the concert was really good. One song that we loved was - Man of God, Man of Faith. His older classics were great but this song was our overall favorite.
Have you ever heard it? Tell me what you think and if you know anything about his beliefs.

* On the 15th I spoke at Community Bible Church - Wed Ladies Bible Study. I have prepared for this speaking engagement the past couple of months and looked forward to this message. They have been doing a study on the Psalms and Worship. My topic specifically was about Giving Thanks. I love the Psalms and talking about Worship - plus I have a lot to give thanks about so this was something I really loved preparing for and participating in.
When I arrived at the church and set up for the message I could not find my folder and immediately remembered I had it out to write something I thought of that morning and did not put it back in my bag. I did not panic - which is not typically my nature! It was cool because God had His way for sure! I had no notes and just let the Lord flow with what was planted in me and what He spoke to me as I stood on that stage. My dear friend Allison covered me in prayer and even though it did not go the way I had thought, the results of the Ladies sharing their testimonies at the end was evidence the Lord was taking care of what He purposed that day.
I thank the Lord for His creative idea He led me to do for the open and close of the message. The card board testimonies were really powerful and freeing!
I thought my original message was just for me but I am thinking now that it was purposed for another time. Maybe it will appear on this very blog...or at a church near you!

* Celebrated Caty's 14th Birthday!! A Big Thank You to Dr L., who rescheduled Caty's 5th round of chemo so she could have a party. We also celebrated that she is Kickin The Cancer in the butt! The kids all had a great time laughing, dancing and playing goofy games! It was a great time that we all will never forget! Watching her have this great time made us all forget she even had that stuff!

WOW - Part II

Here are some pictures from my WOW! Saturday and a review of what the day was like.

The day started with our Mug N Muffin ladies fellowship event.
Our guests that day all shared inspiring testimonies. I am grateful for their willingness to participate in this day. Those in attendance were greatly encouraged with their messages of hope! THANKS LADIES!!

SHARLET L. ~
Is a friend that has impacted my life with her, courage, wisdom and reflection of Jesus. At Mug N Muffin she gave us a glimpse into the worst day of her life. On that day Sharlet and her girls said goodbye to Chip (husband/father) as he left for Afghanistan. IF that was not difficult enough she then drove herself to an appointment only her and Chip knew about. The appointment was for a biopsy to be done on a mass that was recently discovered in her breast. When the nurses heard that Chip was leaving on that same day they told Sharlet her biopsy could be re-scheduled for another day...Sharlet's response was "No, this day was already going to be a bad, hard day as it was ...Why ruin 2 days?!" It is with that type of attitude and strong will that she went through her breast cancer battle, took care of her 2 daughters, got a job, and prayed & supported her husband while he was serving in Afghanistan this past year.
As we prepared for Sharlet to share her testimony I was captured by her prayer to get out of God's way. God was beautifully glorified through her that day!

Trust Me in your times of trouble and I will rescue you, and you will give Me the glory.

SUZIE B. ~
I met Suzie through June, a good friend & warrior of both of ours.
Suzie's background has been difficult and her former lifestyle of abusing drugs and making wrong choices has taken a toll on her physical body. Last November her doctors gave her grim news about her heart and lung condition and scheduled her for surgery the following week.
At Mug N Muffin Suzie was joined by her friends June and Lori. They shared the miracle story of Suzie's healing that took place at our ladies retreat last year. The retreat was held the weekend before Suzie's scheduled surgery.
When Suzie arrived at the retreat she was not in good condition. She had difficulty walking any distance and was only able to breath through the assistance of an oxygen tank.
By Saturday afternoon she was healed and walking briskly without the oxygen and enjoying the remaining retreat experience!! Praise the Lord for his healing touch that was delivered through unexpected circumstances and for the obedience of the messenger (Lori) to go hold Suzie and tell her that she was loved and that the Lord had a new heart for her. Lori had never seen or met Suzie. It was a miracle that Suzie even let her hug and hold her because she was not the mushy hugger type and her heart was angry and hurting! The Lord's embrace warmed her from her feet to her chest and gave her a new heart full of joy, peace and hope! To this day she is breathing without an oxygen tank and continues to be strengthened and filled with the powerful knowledge & love of Christ!! Hallelujah!!

If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

CATY M ~
A 13 year old freshmen who is encouraging others through the most difficult journey of her life.
On July 14th family and friends got a text alerting them to start praying. Caty's doctor had discovered a mass on her back and was admitting her to the hospital for further testing. When I received that text I was away working at kids camp and was blown away at the message. Two days later I was shaken we got the news that she was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma Cancer. It is a rare teen cancer that usually is not detected as early as Caty's was.
Ever since that day Caty has used every opportunity to tell others about Jesus Christ and encourages everyone to pray!
While she was at Youth Camp just weeks before her diagnosis, she felt the Lord was speaking to her to share the gospel message with 300 people. She thought that it might be that she would invite 300 youth to her home for the youth elevate bible study group. The Lord had other plans and today her message of courage and hope has expanded beyond 300 people.
Her testimony has been shared with thousands of people that visit her caring bridge site, watch her utube video or hear her live in person. Her persistent spirit and prayers have paved a way for her to accomplish things during this difficult season. Things that doctors and others said were not possible have been made possible through prayer and provision of the Lord!
Her advice to someone who gets a negative report...open the Bible, read it and pray!!
She has just completed her 4th round of chemo. Praise the Lord the tumor is responding and shrinking!

Mug N Muffin - WOW!

Hi you all!
A special Greeting to all who are visiting today after attending the Mug N Muffin event this morning at CBC.

The theme today was This Is My Story, This Is My Song...A Time of Testimonies and Praise!
I had 3 wonderful ladies share about certain testimonies that have taken place in their lives recently. My heart is full of amazement and gratitude with how the Lord delivered the message of Hope through their obedience and participation. To watch it all come together after months of preparation and prayer is beyond what my lingo can portray.

All I got for you is - WOW!

So Thank you for stopping by and come back later for a more descriptive update about this whole day. I do not have time to post pictures or blog completely about their stories...so Please Come Back!!

Right now I have to go get ready for another event I have been praying and working on for months. The day is finally here for the THIRD DAY ~ JARS OF CLAY ~ SWITCHFOOT AND ROBERT RANDOLPH BAND In Concert!!!

Shining For The Lord ~ Prayer Journal for Caty M

Yesterday Caty was scheduled to have her 4th Chemo treatment. This got re-scheduled for Saturday because she has ear and sinus infections and was put on antibiotics. She was released to go to school today but will be back in the hospital Saturday morning through Wednesday.

The story of Caty's journey is spreading and her courage is touching many lives. Recently she had the opportunity share her story through a video testimony during a Youthquake Wednesday night service. You can see that video by going here.

This past Sunday she was also in the newspaper showing off her beautiful 13 year old portrait. That picture was part of an article about photographer Laura Nikas's recent project titled - Embrace Your Age. If you missed the article you can see it here. Laura is amazing!

Next week I have invited Caty to be one of my guest at our Ladies Mug N Muffin Fellowship Event called - This Is My Story, This is My Song. There will be two other ladies sharing their testimonies of hope and courage. If you want more information about that you can go here.

As you can see she is staying busy and God has already been working through her young testimony. Lets take this weeks scripture and thank the Lord for giving her the strength and opportunity to shine for Him! We will also pray a guarding over her health and her family.

GIVE THANKS ~ PSALM 145: 1-7
I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name for ever and ever.

Thank you for all the open doors that you have given Caty to share about your power and love.
In the days ahead we ask that you give her strength to tackle this next round of chemo and wisdom for the doctors as they take care of her. We pause Lord and give you personal thanks for our own blessings...May we increase with greater love for others. AMEN!

After All These Years ~ Happy Anniversary Baby!

On a hot September 7th day in 1985...I married my sweetheart, the incredible father of our precious girls.

It has been 23 years of amazing trials and triumphs!

After all these years this is what I still get on a daily basis...

1. A patient man...most of the time...especially when dealing with me!

2. He prays throughout each day for his family...and others.

3. He makes sure the kids are up in the morning.

4. Serves them breakfast.

5. Makes their lunch.

6. Takes them to school.

7. Prays over them before sending them off.

8. He insists I stay in bed while he does all this.

9. He works hard for his girls...and our spending habits, dreams and callings!

10. He Compliments me everday...even when I make "hamburger surprise" for dinner!

11. He kisses me before he goes to work everyday and speaks a blessing over me...even if I am still sleeping!

12. He likes to do the grocery shopping.

13. He notices when I clean.

14. He is very funny.

15. He is very smart...he never stops learning.

16. He is constant in encouraging me with my calling and gifts.

17. He is an incredible business Media Man!

18. He makes sacrifices and puts others before himself.

19. He keeps the checkbook...balanced!

20. He prays with and hugs & kisses the older girls before heading off to bed.

21. He prays with, kisses and tucks Julia into bed every night.

22. He listens to me...when I am ready for late night conversations and patient while I go through my night time ritual of face cleansing and moisturizers!

23. Most of all he worships Jesus in all he does...and then at the end of the day...he makes sure the doors are locked, prays with me, kisses me goodnight and rolls over to get rest to do this all over again!

He may snore but I can handle that!

There really is so much more...but I just went through an average day with this great guy that I am blessed with!!

Today I celebrate our journey together and want to dedicate this song to my honey!

Rejoicing! ~ Prayer Journal for Caty M.

Yesterday Caty began her 3rd round of Chemo.

We have had a lot to celebrate with this cancer journey. That sounds funny to say - but- God has been gracious in His delivery of answers to our prayers!

The past two weeks it has been so cool to watch Him give Caty the desires of her heart.
She really wanted to be at the back to school pep rally and really wanted to be able to attend school and start her freshmen year.

Well, she has been able to do that and more! She performed at the pep rally, attended school last week and went to the football game! It is so touching to watch this kid in action!

Here is an update from her Dad regarding her 3rd Chemo Camp.

Hi friends and family,
We ask that all of you would be praying for a good report from the doctors. Caty will be undergoing an MRI prior to chemo on Thursday to see what progress has been made. Please pray that the tumor has and will continue to respond to the chemotherapy and that she will be completely healed.

OK - I got home a little bit ago from our game...we lost.

I did not give an update earlier because there was not any news yet...but after the game we heard there was an update.

So here is another update from Caty's Dad.

Praise God!
Let your faith be encouraged. God definitely answers prayer (as if we didn't know). .... it's great every once in a while to get some encouraging physical evidence of what God is doing through the doctors, nurses and medicine.
After a long night and day of waiting, the CT and MRI results show that the tumor is responding to the chemotherapy. The tumor is dying from the inside and is pulling away from the surrounding tissue.
Thank you for keeping Caty in your prayers. Please continue to pray for all of us as we still have a long road ahead.

Just in case you were wondering if that was a type-o in my blog title - know it is not.

Ha, ha! Just kidding...No, it is not a typing error!

The title is about me still soaking in what I caught from Beth Moore last weekend while she was in San Antonio with her Living Proof Conference.

Throughout this past week I have been going through my notes...and taking in more of what the Lord shared through her. It was amazing!!

Her message theme was about Inheritance.
When she announced what her topic was for the weekend you could feel a sweep through the whole room of ladies as we sat up to a more alert position. The Holy Spirit and Beth got our attention!

Throughout the whole weekend she taught us so much and provided us with massive amounts of scripture and message to meditate on. That is what I love about her!!
She engaged us in His word and taught us to Proclaim and Believe that we are Heirs of God!! YES!!

The whole weekend was a special time because it was shared with some long time friends of mine -Donna, Dorothy, and Sonya and our teenage daughters - my Alex, Donna's Avery, Dorothy's Macy and Sonya's Sarah. What an honor and sweet experience to soak in all this with our daughters!

To worship alongside my friends and our daughters was overwhelming at times...the presence of them beside me - mixed with the Holy Spirit singing over us - plus all those thousands of women was absolutely one of the most refreshing and inspiring moments that I have experienced in a long time. I will treasure that in my heart forever!!

Listening to the word come out of Beth's mouth "LIVE" was truly radical!
The Lord gave me so much confirmation, direction and even correction. There were areas that were revealed, unveiled and set straight! I am thankful for her obedience to speak with no compromise and without hesitation...my ministry efforts were challenged and changed!

There were so many MORE numerous stories I could share about the conference...So Many!!
Due to time and space here are a few...

* Like how cool it was that there was a section reserved for all of us bloggers. Beth calls us her Siestas! So she had a section for the Siesta Fiesta's that were there...and there was a special gathering set up after the conference - but I was unable to stay for the whole thing.

* It was so neat to meet ladies from so many areas...I had a sweet connection with Carol and Rita from Gonzales...They were so precious! (Hope to see them again!)

* Meeting and working with Tina from KLOVE.

* The Worship...mmm...mmm...undescribable!!

* Lastly I want to close with this one amazing personal story that impacted me so great that I could have left and not even heard the message...BUT I am so glad i did hear it and was able to experience every detail!

When Beth prays she likes to kneel down. Every time I see her do that I am moved and think of how much that ministers to me. Ooh how I like that position of reverence.

Whenever I get up and speak at an event I think of doing it but quickly realize how awkward it may look when I try to get back up!! Obviously Beth has better knees than I do!!

So back to my amazing story...

When she led us into prayer the first night and said lets pray...everyone bowed their heads.
For some reason I did not close my eyes and bow my head and began to pray with my eyes open. That was unusual for me...but I did not even think about that - I just did it.

It was during the prayer time that I went deep into His Presence reading the magnificent Names of God that appeared ever so gently and sweetly across the big screens. Beth was praying out loud and the words were resonating on the screen who God is and it saturated the room with His Power and Love!!

As I was praying I read the phrases that appeared on the screen and began to pray and give thanks to Him for being my Jehovah Jireh - My Provider, The Alpha and Omega - The Beginning and The End, Lord Almighty, You Are The Potter, I Sing For Joy at The Work of Your Hand...and so on it went.

I love to pray but Never had I experienced prayer through a media screen like that before!

It happened every time she prayed.

That weekend I never closed my eyes to pray...I anticipated the words to read and pray over my life, my friends and our daughters lives and the lives of all who were there. I could have read those promises and descriptions of God forever!

More, More, More...More of Him!

A Big Texas Thank You to Beth and family, Living Proof staff, Travis and the worship team and band, the Siesta's, Lifeway, KLOVE and all the volunteers that made this such a pleasant and well managed event...It was spectacular!

It is Music Monday and Back to School Day for Ali Bug , she starts her Junior year and Ju Bean 7th grade.

I have been preparing myself during these last days of Summer that my girls would be heading back to their school hallways. It sure will be quiet without them here. Oh wow! I will have the computer all to myself!!

We have had such an awesome Summer so later this week I will re-cap some of my favorite memories! Come back and check it out!

For Today I would like to celebrate Music Monday with a High School Memory.

Let me take you back to my Junior year at TR High School.
I was in Choir class. My friend Kathy Thompson shared her cassette walkman with me...my life has never been the same. Thank You Kathy!!

That day when I put her headphones on and heard the piano keys beautifully begin the intro of a song. My heart was touched and calmed as the music captured me like I had never experienced while listening to a song. The lyrics begin to minister to me...but I did not understand at that time what I was experiencing.

I understand now that My Lord was singing over me.

It was Amy Grant singing the songs - Sing Your Praise To The Lord, El Shaddai, and Raining On The Inside. But it was the Lord's powerful love reaching me through the ministry gift He anointed her with. I am grateful for her and have been a devoted supporter and prayer warrior of hers ever since. Maybe one day I will have the opportunity to tell her...Thank You!

The Album I was listening to was the 1982 Age to Age album by Amy Grant.
Often I pull out that music and listen to it to remind of that day.

The day I discovered the power and love of Christ like I never experienced it before!

The day I discovered Christian music.

The day I discovered Christian radio.

The day that changed my life and my future.

It was also the day I discovered that I was not allowed to listen to that "kind" of music.
The whole Christian music was foreign to my mother and our back ground at the time.
She forbid me to listen to the Christian radio station or I would get in trouble if I did.

I disobeyed often.

When I would lay down to go to bed I would listen to our local Christian radio station on my small AM/FM radio...pressed tightly to my right ear.

It was worth it.

On those nights...I slept in peace instead of with fear like I normally would.

The Lord is My Strength & Refuge ~ Prayer Journal for Caty M

People are beginning to wear the "Blue Band" bracelets in addition to the "Yellow" bracelets.
The Blue Bands have Caty's name on one side and on the other side it has the scripture verse - Isaiah 41:10 that was shared and prayed over Caty by her friend Alex (Ali Bug).

These bands were the idea of Kathy K, her daughter Robin and not sure who all else was involved but I will find out and give a Shout Out and proper Thank You to all these awesome supporters and prayer warriors!!
Kathy asked Caty some facts about her self and this is how the color and scripture were selected.

Healing Scriptures ~ Matthew 11:28

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.

Psalm 91:1-2

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God in whom I trust."

Today I would like to add to our prayer coverage that we pray for rest to be in Caty's home.

They have had a long week with last weeks 2nd round of Chemo and as you can imagine their bodies physically need some rest.

The scripture reading in Psalm 91 refers to God as one who is a dwelling place, refuge and strong tower. In Hebrew the names are Maon, Machseh, and Migdal-Oz. These names are often found in clusters and speak of the One who has promised to watch over and keep us safe.
In that safe place He is able to provide you with rest, protection and peace.

We give thanks for Gods protective care for Caty and her family!
The Lord is their calm and provides so much for them on a daily basis. I have no doubt He will watch over them and give them peace on their pillows and great slumber!

1. After the birth of my second daughter - I became allergic to Garlic. Many friends and family have almost killed me by cooking with that nasty thing! I know most people love garlic...but I am thankful God has made it so I think it is yucky...that way I do not miss having it!

2. I have a long night time ritual of brushing my teeth and cleansing my face before getting into bed...sometimes it drives my husband nuts!

3. I love to serve and volunteer...but my most unique and favorite thing to do is....undercover security at my church. I have always been fascinated with cops stories and one of my favorite shows growing up was Charlies Angels!
Oh darn...I just blew my cover!

4. I snort when I laugh...don't get me started!!

5. I am convinced that me and Amy Grant are best friends...Love ya Amy!

6. Ok here is something spiritual...My ministry name is from the transformation that the Lord has done in my life....He has inspired my looks! Thank the Lord for Caty having good lab reports this week.
She was so happy to be well enough to attend Pep Squad practices.

This week her hair began to fall out so she went ahead and shaved it...she looks beautiful bald!!

Journey ~ Don't Stop Believing

OK, Here it is - My first Music Monday blog!!

This one is about our Journey Concert experience we had with our good friends - Sarah and Stephen on July 25th at the Verizon.

Stephen got us tickets as soon as they went on sale and grabbed us some great seats!

We talked for months about the new lead singer, Arnel and how amazing this guys voice was. To see him in concert was worth the whole ticket. That guy had such huge energy and was a dynamic performer and singer...VERY talented! You can go to YouTube and type in Journey and check him out.

If you liked Journey in the past...You will still enjoy their new music and their new CD which has 2 cd's...one is Arnel singing their greatest hits...He did a fantastic job! Now don't get me wrong - Steve Perry is still my favorite Journey lead singer...but Arnel exceeded our expectations!!

I am excited about posting information about music, concerts and the artists. So check back periodically on a Monday and we will have a great melody of discussion!

There might even be a give away or two going on!

Speaking of Giveaways...Last Friday I was going to announce the winner of the New Third Day CD ~ Revelation. I apologize that it was not announced...so much was going on because our oldest daughter finished up College Classes on Friday. Back to the Music Monday Edition ~

Personally I love music and really enjoy hearing it live...even if it is on the patio of one of my favorite restaurants.

Music touches our lives as it weaves memories of the moment into our hearts.

You can play certain songs from the past and watch a person's disposition change. They might even get up and dance!

Yep - that is what I witnessed when we recently went to the Cheap Trick, Heart and Journey Concert. People of all ages were there...but the funniest thing to watch was the older ones.

The grandma who shook and moved like she was in her twenties was so adorable...she was a pretty woman in her 60's...and somebody's Grandma!

The other person that kept getting my attention was a guy, a few rows in front of us, who just couldn't stay seated. He was all over his seating area and probably is still sore from his aerobics that he did that day...Phew! I was exhausted just watching him!

There were many more but I think you get the picture!

I am not even going to address the visuals that we saw!!

Lets just say...You should not still be dressing like that!

Thank you Sarah and Stephen for a great night of music, memories and late night eating!

Here Am I ~ Send Me...Official Prayer Journal For Caty M

Whether you are a family member, longtime friend, an acquaintance or new admirer of Caty M.
Whether you personally know her or not.

ALL of us have had our hearts and lives joined together by one common concern.
The health and care of Caty and her family - Dad David, Mom Courtney and Brother Colin.

On July 14th I received a text from Courtney that Caty was going in for some testing for a mass that was spotted on her back and to please start praying for her. I will not forget that day and the days that followed. Those are the days that God got our attention quick and we began a new level of trusting Him.

That is also the day that we began to witness a young life live out the desire to do what the Lord had already called her to do...Reach lives for Him.

During the week of June 18th-22nd while at Youth Camp Caty's passion to share Christ intensified. The theme that week was Amplified. Caty absorbed the message and the meaning of Amplify...which is to make larger, greater or to increase.

Amplify is what she wanted to do with her faith and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ.

As she felt the Lord stirring her she began to see her home fill up with students that would attend her Elevate group (a church sponsored youth Bible Study group) in the fall...the number she has as a goal to reach is 300 people.

Her obedient heart has led her to reach way more than that already...and school has not begun yet!

Many hear the Lord speak to them and ignore it...some push it away...others set it aside for today and think maybe later they will respond to what God is calling them to do.

Caty has shown us what a "Yes Lord" looks like...She said Yes...Here Am I ~ Use me, Send me...Have your way in my life!

And even though the way things have unfolded is not like she pictured...Her steps have not wavered from that desire that was placed in her heart...She is still responding and growing even more interested in the calling and the things of the Lord.

As this all began I felt the Lord call me to put together a Prayer Calendar to cover every aspect of Caty's journey. Caty believes the word of God is powerful and true and is the source of all her strength, hope, love, and peace. She knows that prayer works...she gets through each day by praying and being the receiver of prayers mentioned on her behalf.

This journey is happening for a reason...it is not just for Caty and her family - but for all who hear her story and of His amazing Love. The rippling affect of this has no boundaries of age, race, or space. Praise The Lord for what He is doing in the midst of all of our lives!

May our faith be amplified for the Glory of God!

I wanted to remind some and get the word out to others that THIRD DAY will be on JAY LENO tomorrow night!!
That is Tuesday, July 29th, 2008.

Tomorrow is the release date of their new cd - Revelation...I almost said album...anyways...go to Target, Best Buy, Lifeway or wherever you buy your music and enjoy the great music during the day and then do not forget to stay up late and watch The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and special musical guest Third Day!!!

Honestly if I was rich...I would have been there listening to it Live!! That did not happen but a part of my support will be there via my friend Lotto...and I will be listening to them and celebrating on the phone with Donna as we watch it together...just in different parts of the USA. Me in Texas and her in Tennessee (she is visiting the family - Hi Mimi!).

On Wednesday they will be on KLOVE Radio with Jon and Sherri Rivers...so if you have a KLOVE station in your area...enjoy the continuation of the street release week celebration and promotion!

Our First Visit

Sorry I have been slow at getting another blog out.
There has been a lot of activity going on in our home...I will try to catch you up this week with last weeks happenings...so hang in there!!

Last week we went to visit our friend, Caty M, in the hospital....This was her first week to begin Chemo treatments and they were intense!

We had read her caring bridge website before going and talked to Courtney (her mama) so we knew she was loopy but when we got there...well...to say the least - she was Very entertaining!

I brought her a pair of my signature "Be Magnified Jesus" glasses and we took a picture with Joe Jonas...I did not have another pair of glasses for him...it might have made him look better!

As the seconds ticked away, Caty begins to perk up a little and pats the bed for Ali to sit with her. We were all laughing because Caty was so cute in her gesture...Ali was happy to join her friend and take a picture. I had to snap fast because her eyes would open and shut quickly!
You will notice Joe never changes his pose!

I captured another kodak moment when Ju Bean joined the picture and we enjoyed more laughter and communication with Caty. She was such a joy and shared some interesting facts. We are always learning from her!

Well, here is what can happen when you have Chemo and mix of other "cocktail" drugs that help you with nausea...or perhaps it was the company she had that day!

Even though our visit was sweet - we wished we never had to have that kind of visit again.

We left a part of our smile in that room that day and captured another part of Caty in our hearts.
When we went to the car we spent time thanking God for what we have and praying for Him to be strength and healing to Caty and her family.

He has already shown Himself in a grand way through this young life. We are anticipating much more of His Power and Love to explode through her amazing testimony as it ripples out and affects a wide range of lives - all over this world! From what I have read and seen...it has already begun!

I told Courtney that the strong foundation and courage that we are witnessing through Caty is a reflection of the legacy of faith that her and David have lived and passed down to their children...It is a beautiful thing to witness!!

Please continue to pray for her healing and her nausea...she has been real sick from this first round of treatments...but if you read her post today you will notice she still has the ability to proclaim that her God is able to...in her own words "kick a stupid little tumor in someones butt!"
(that is where her tumor is located.)

So be encouraged by this and know that whatever your "tumor" is in your life...God is able to conquer it - or kick its butt! I have no doubts!!

We rejoice today that Caty has been at home for a couple of days now and is trying to get some much needed rest and gets to enjoy visitors and family in her own casa.

Starting next week I will have a prayer calendar that will cover Caty's battle and all the details that go with it. We will not cease in our prayers and support until the Victory has been complete!

Thanks for caring for someone that many of you do not even know. What you pray and do for her - you are doing unto the Lord! What a blessing you are!

My Teen Rocks!!

On Wednesday, July 9th I took Ali Bug to go get her haircut.

It was a day of celebration!

Why?

Because for the past year she has not wanted to cut, trim or snip any part of her hair.

She was determined to grow it long and would give me much grief whenever I brought up the suggestion of going to get her hair trimmed.

Ali had a goal and stayed focused on this goal until the end.

What was her goal?

She wanted to grow her hair long enough to donate eleven inches to the Locks of Love foundation, that prepares wigs for cancer patients.

She grew her hair so long that she actually still had some hair left to get a cute new style for herself.

Ju Bean and I watched and took pictures of this great moment.

It was inspiring and made me so proud to see what she accomplished.

I think there is a message being birthed from what I witnessed in her eyes.

She completed what her heart set out to do and was lit up with joy in the process of giving a part of herself for a cause that means something to her.

I was so moved by watching her reach her goal - Way to go Ali!!!

And to think - I almost cut her hair while she was sleeping one night!

Just kidding!

While we were away at Kids Camp the week of July 12th -19th, sweet Caty Mayer was diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma Cancer. Have Faith

Here is a glimpse of our Fourth of July Memories with some of our best friends "Lotto" , "Donna Sue" and their girls Hanna Grace, Lottie and Emma.

We went to Lotto's parents house and ranch in Uvalde, Tx.

This was a long overdue trip and one that we have tried to do on various occasions....I am glad it worked out.

One of the great things about this trip was that I was able to bring Boo-Boo (Winston) with me.

As soon as we began to throw things in our bags, Winston knew we were up to something and began to get anxious. He went crazy when we loaded the car up & put his kennel in it. The smart dog that he is...he jumped in and was ready to hit the road!

When we arrived at the casa, Iya and Doc greeted us with the best Texas hospitality and made us feel so welcomed!

Once we got settled in...All of us girls went to The Country Club to relax, and shiver as we watched the kids swim in freezing water!

The men went to the local HEB to purchase food for meals and snacks. Then they met up with us at the club for a late lunch.

Lunch was fun as we indulged in great conversation and on huge burgers with many side items & desserts...Yummo!

What a joy it was to listen to Iya's funny stories about her bathing suit purchase from the store - Just Add Water...She claims the just add water part is false!

Lotto had some fun stirring up trouble between Uncle Rico and Iya. Iya is a very big Texas Longhorn fan and Rico is a big Red Raider fan. Well, that almost got us kicked out of the casa!

To keep adding to the rough territory...Lotto stoked the fire a little more by adding that we liked the Oklahoma Sooners as well!

Thank goodness Iya operates in forgiveness and showed us a little mercy!

She is also accepting a bribe from Uncle Rico to take her fishing soon!

I can picture it now...Rico and Iya and her Just Add Water Swimsuit on the Texas Coast!

Here are some photos of the sweetest part of the trip...when the kids were all getting along... having fun feeding the goats and playing in the rain.

You will notice Donna Sue and I are not in any photos...we were cooking dinner while everyone went out to feed the goats and play. We had just as much fun...Cooking, Cleaning (ahem) and Jamming to the new Third Day CD that will hit the stores later this month. (I will talk more about Third Day coming in the days and weeks ahead...Stay tuned!!)

I offered Donna to trade her Third Day CD for my new Apologetix CD but she laughed and opted out! Boo!!!

This is the Day that the Lord has made ~ I will rejoice and be glad in it! Psalm 118:24

This is also the first day of my blog!!
The day that has been lingering in my heart and thoughts for a while now.
I can finally say - I did it!

I find it especially significant and fitting that I am starting this new journey on the day our Country celebrates our Freedom.
My heart is full of gratefulness to those men and women who fight and defend for our Freedom...I send out greetings and appreciation to their families who make so many sacrifices to make this is all possible!
I want to give a shout out to my nephew Markie and to my friend Chip...Thanks for serving!!
And in memory and honor of my dad...I salute and give thanks!

Back to my Blogging...

This day is significant because I know what it feels like to not be free.
My life was held captive by fears, thoughts and worries that hindered me from living my life to its full purpose...It suffocated and distracted me...It affected my heart, my knowledge, my parenting and other relationships...but most importantly it affected my faith. But Not Anymore!

When you are set free...You want others to discover it as well.
For me I have a passion to be used to pray and help others experience freedom in their own lives. That is why I am doing this blog thing. It is also why I have embraced the call on my life to speak & encourage others with my testimony and the Word of God. It is because of the Lord Jesus that I am truly Free!

Are you free?

FREEDOM ~ The quality or state of being free: as
a: the absence of necessity, coercion or constraint in choice or action.
b: liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another: INDEPENDENCE.

As I woke up early this morning (6:00 am) the word Freedom was in my thoughts...I jumped out of bed and told Uncle Rico that I was going to go write my first blog! He just smiled and said - Really?

I said - Yes...this is the Day!

MOTION

Are you going through the motions or in motion for Christ?

Being in Motion means we are constantly moving toward a specific purpose.

We will examine what motivates us to move...and what is in our hearts that impels us to action or what robs us of our best intentions.

Motion is about your knowledge, your attitude and your habits. All of this ripples out and affects your surroundings and everyday choices in life. It takes sacrifice, trust and obedience.

James 2:17 ~ Faith without action is dead!

Luke ~ Jesus' purpose displayed in motion.

Acts 16:22-34 ~ Paul & Silas a great example of faith in motion!

This message equips, challenges and includes fun illustrations. It was originally written and designed for Youth but has been adapted for couples and womens groups.

Learn how to build a strong foundation and shield of faith that will cover your life, your family and the generations to come.

We cannot allow culture to be our guide.

We cannot allow our situations to be our barometer.

We cannot allow attitude's or action's that do not imitate His Love and Word to continue to be lived out and passed down to the next generation.

I will share personal story of the revelation I discovered through the Word of God and examining my own past and what steps the Lord guided me on to become a wife, mother, and person of blessing.
